The Biggest Problem with Selling Gift Certificates for Massage Therapists

The #1 problem massage therapists face when trying to sell gift certificates is that they are typically not available in-person in sell them.

Most of us are working our little hearts out, in a room with a client for 60 minutes, with the door shut. It is unrealistic and unprofessional to leave a massage to sell a gift certificate to someone else.

This works if you work in a multi office setting and there is someone managing the front desk. However, if you are a single-person entity, it just doesn’t work!

If this is you, then it’s time to come up with a solution on how to create a process that sells gift certificates for you!

This doesn’t have to be difficult and one of the easiest ways to do this is a 2-part process.

Business Facebook Page

This is a must if you want to make this system work! There are necessary reasons to have a business Facebook page and the biggest of those has to do with people being able to find you – just like the “old fashioned” yellow pages.

Make sure you have your business Facebook page set up and running properly. Post to it frequently and remember that if you want people to see your posts or ads, then you need to pay for it. It is called a boost and it doesn’t have to cost much to be effective.

After you have this tool running, then you can use this page like a website where people can find you, find your gift certificate link we are going to talk about, and anything else they need to know about you.

You can direct any potential client to find you there and you can run gift certificate specials for the holidays with the links to “buy right there” on Facebook.

Link to An Affiliate Site

If you already use a company like Square Trade for your debit or credit card transactions, look into their option for a store front. You set up a link where people can go to purchase a downloadable gift certificate, or they can request that you mail one to them. Just make sure that you do!

There are other options as well such as Gift Card Café that you can create an account with and it is similar to a store front. Potential clients or current clients can go to this link and purchase a downloaded gift certificate or gift card.

Just remember that most any option you find will cost you a monthly fee or a % of the sale – or sometimes both. Make sure you read the fine print and understand what you are signing up for.

And There You Go! Online Gift Certificate Sales!

I think the thing to understand about working with today’s on-line world is that you have to find pieces to link together. That is the way most business operate anymore. You just have to find the systems that work together to give you the results you are looking for, like the 2-part system above.
